“A Family Reunion” Art Show by DeVon Cunningham

DeVon Cunningham, an internationally known fine arts painter, whose work is in the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, will open his newest show, A Family Reunion, at Temple Shir Shalom on Saturday Evening, May 20 from 5-8 p.m. The show will continue on Sunday, May 21 from 12-4 p.m. Perhaps best known for painting the Black Jesus on the dome of St. Cecilia’s Church during the Civil Rights movement, he has also show his work documenting the once strong relationship between Jewish and African American musicians, to great acclaim. His newest works, depicting the theme Tikkun Olam, Repair of the World, will be displayed along with Islamic and Christian art, hence the very timely show, the world needs now more than ever, A Family Reunion.
