Israel Today: 2 Different Stories, Many Remarkable Lessons

Sunday, October 6, 2024 4 Tishrei 5785

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Meet and Hear from Israelis Noa Reuveni and Shay Raz

Noa Reuveni is an Israeli activist who grew up in the Gaza Envelope and throughout the past year grew into a spokesperson after her best friend, Ziv Berman, was taken hostage with his twin brother Gali on October 7.
Noa was born in Shahar, Israel, lived in Stockholm, Sweden, and has experienced antisemitism on both fronts: hate against the Jewish state, and hate against the Jewish people. Now she speaks to thousands of people around the world, inspiring them to take action in ways that everyone can relate to: the desire for friendship and protection.

Noa served as a commander in the Israeli Defense Forces, specifically with the Home Front Command Unit in the field of protecting civilians from ballistic threats, and continues to serve in the reserves while she advocates for the hostages and runs “Zer Tikva,” which raises awareness for the hostages by selling bouquets of sunflowers. To date, “Zer Tikva” has raised 8 million NIS for the Hostages and Missing Families Forum. The yellow flowers symbolize hope, connecting Jews worldwide and reinforcing their ties to each other and to Israel.

Shay was born just outside Jerusaelm and is a member of the IDF special forces unit, serving most recently in Gaza. His mission today is bearing witness to what he has experienced on and since October 7.

This event is open to adult members of Temple Shir Shalom.  Please complete the RSVP information below.
