Learning
Temple Shir Shalom prides itself on being a community of learners. From our weekly “Tish” study group on Shabbat to the many adult education classes and mini-courses taught by our Rabbis throughout the year, there is something for everyone.
Daily Preschool at The Learning Center
Temple Shir Shalom's TLC - The Learning Center Preschool is for children ages two to five. It embodies Temple's vision, mission and values. The Learning Center instills a love of learning and reflects our belief that each child has unique skills, talents, and resources to share.
Religious Education
SHORESH (Shir Shalom's Religious School) offers a comprehensive Hebrew and Judaic education for children in Pre–K through High School.
Pre-K–6th Grade: From the very little ones through the beginning of middle school, our religious school program prepares children for Bar and Bat Mitzvah while providing a foundation for further studies.
7th & 8th Grades: Our innovative Madrichim program meets monthly for 7th- and 8th-grade students and consists of informal camp-style retreats and social action projects to build a stronger community.
High School: Our high school program focuses on teens being Jewish in a non-Jewish world and making Judaism relevant in the modern world. In high school, students also have the opportunity to join our youth group, Shir Shalom Temple Youth (SSTY).
Adult Education
At Shir Shalom, we encourage life-long learning. In keeping with the Jewish tradition of studying Torah, asking questions, and searching for meaning, we offer a wide variety of Adult Education opportunities. We know you're busy! And we plan accordingly. We have Lunch & Learns, 15-Minute "Fast Learning" Discussions, as well as traditional weekly courses. Shir Shalom is innovative and creative in our education offerings.
Blending Families Together
Interfaith families or those with minimal Jewish backgrounds are encouraged to explore their Judaism in a warm and caring environment. In keeping with our commitment to being a house of study, we invite you to take part in the many learning opportunities here at Shir Shalom.
